Moon and Thunder works with kids on connections to movement, nature, and breathing techniques that support everyday life and challenges. The Yoga Calm for Children program is incorporated in classes for kids that offer integrated movement games, yoga postures, and breath awareness for calming and energizing. The program supports the body, mind, heart and spirit.

The number of children on drugs for anxiety, depression, ADD, and ADHD is beyond comprehension. Giving kids an opportunity to learn basic skills in breathing, expressing themselves through language and art, spending "real" time in nature and using all of their senses gives them a foundation for growing into a world that primarily and progressively is keeping us in chairs and in front of screens.

Our program offers opportunities to ground oneself and learn balance through yoga postures. It encourages staying connected to the natural world. It's a crucial component to maintain imagination, curiosity and love for the planet. It celebrates the beauty of the child's spirit and strength in community.

After-School Kids Breath in Motion

Moon and Thunder's Breath in Motion after school program offers kids 6-12 years-old a time to experience the power of breath, along with fun movement games. Kids gain skills such as listening to their bodies and strengthening awareness. They will also learn postures to support strength, focus and balance.

The weekly practice inspires self confidence and academic concentration. Some of the activities are based on the Yoga Calm principals — stillness, listening, grounding, strength and community.

Sharing self-care skills with children benefits them physically, emotionally and mentally. It helps strengthen spirit and their ability to express themselves in healthy ways. As children grow and experience more challenging social interactions, learning the power of their breath and how to use it enables self confidence and helps the child to feel more grounded.

Breath in Motion offers children and adolescents a time to gather, pause, breathe, and interact with one another in a calming environment. They are included in the process and become leaders. Owning these skills pre-high school are invaluable in the time we are living in. Kids are overwhelmed, over stressed and some find it difficult to concentrate or rest. Allowing time and space for kids to find peace within and move freely builds patience, imagination and self-love.
